Films by the Coen Brothers are usually polarizing. You either love it or hate it. This was yet another venture into their dark humour, but this time I just didn't get it. It was like they were having their own private joke and you are just left feeling awkward. In fact, this movie lost me from the opening scene and I couldn't wait for it to end. Strange that my first "Rotten Tomato" would be one of this year's Oscar contenders, but I have to disagree with the critics on this one. This film just feels so self-indulgent, that I doubt it will be able to amass enough votes to pick up many nominations (although it seems to be a front-runner for Original Screenplay).
